Winners of Asia Region S.Pellegrino Young Chef!

Find out the winners from the Asia Region of the 4th edition of S.Pellegrino Young Chef!

The Asia Regional Final of S.Pellegrino Young Chef 2019-2020 concluded on the 10th of September, with some of the most talented young chefs in Asia showing off their outstanding culinary skills at the cook-off held at Ecole Tsuji Tokyo, in partnership with the Tsuji Culinary Institute Group.

 

25-year-old Kevin Wong from Meta Restaurant, Singapore was announced as the winner of S.Pellegrino Young Chef Asia Region winner, to be participating in the Grand Finale in Milan in 2020. He was accompanied by his mentor Sun Kim who provided guidance during the competition.

Kevin won the judges over with his signature dish, “Celebration of a Duck”. He is presently a Sous Chef at Meta Restaurant. Voted by the Regional Jury, this award is given to the chef who has unrivalled technical skills, genuine creativity and an exceptional, strong personal belief about Gastronomy.

The esteemed Regional Jury this year included Daniele Cason (Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo), Garima Arora (GAA, Bangkok), Hyun Seok Choi (Choi Dot, Seoul), Julien Royer (Odette, Singapore) and Shoko Hirase (L’aube, Tokyo). The 2019 Asia Region competition saw a huge number of applications put forward for consideration, with the level of talent as impressive as ever.

To reflect S.Pellegrino’s belief in and support of, the transformative power of gastronomy and its impact beyond the kitchen, the following three awards have been introduced to the competition to complement the existing S.Pellegrino Young Chef award:

All of the winners of the additional three awards will also be invited to attend the Grand Finale as guests, affording them another opportunity to network with some of the biggest names in gastronomy from around the globe.
